Bank storage is water absorbed and stored by the soil pores of the bed and banks of a river, lake or reservoir during higher stage periods and returned, fully or partially to the water body as the water stage falls.
Description
Water that percolates laterally from a river in flood into the adjacent geological material, some of which may flow back into the river during low-flow conditions.
