Description
Old or ancient river channels often infilled with course fluvial deposits which can store and transmit appreciable quantities of water. Where below the water table, these geomorphological features are often targeted for water supply.
Why are paleochannels important?
Paleochannels can store and transmit groundwater and can therefore be developed as a source of water.
