A special type of casing, consisting of a slotted tube or wire wound tubular frame, that permits the inflow of groundwater to a borehole whilst maintaining its structural integrity.
Description
The slot size depends upon the particle size of the aquifer so that water is admitted whilst sand and rock particles are not.
Why is a screen important?
Screens allow groundwater to enter the borehole from aquifer zones in which open borehole construction is inappropriate.
